Plug In America commends Gov. Schwarzenegger for signing SB626 into law on Monday (10/12). This measure, authored by Sen. Christine Kehoe (D-San Diego), will accelerate the market for plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles by supporting the development of charging infrastructure for these vehicles.

“This bill will support electric-vehicle infrastructure sufficient to overcome any barriers to the widespread deployment and use of these advanced clean vehicles,” said Jay Friedland, Plug In America’s legislative director. “Studies show that availability of public plug-in charging infrastructure will increase the adoption of plug-in vehicles. We applaud Senator Kehoe’s efforts and Governor Schwarzenegger’s foresight and commitment to sustainable transportation.”

Plug In America advocated aggressively for the bill both in the state legislature and with Gov. Schwarzenegger directly.
